Common questions that people have for beekeepers.
Q) Do you get stung?
A) Yes, all the time. As a matter of fact, I keep an EPI Pen with me because as your body ages, you can become highly allergic overnight. If you have an anaphylactic reaction and don't have an EPI pen, you could die. Always wear safety gear.
Q) How many bees are in one hive?
A) About 30,000 on a decent healthy hive. This includes one queen, many workers, and drones (boys)
Q) How do you know what's flower the bees use for the honey?
A) Bees have an affinity for the largest source of nectar and/or pollen that can provide the colony with the resources needed to survive. In our apiaries, we are very in touch with the flora and watch what blooms and see what bees are eating.
